Preparation Steps

  1. Prepare the Tomatoes

Choose Dutch tomatoes for stuffing; wash the tomatoes, cut off the tops, and remove the seeds. Let them sit upside down on a paper towel for a few minutes.

  2. Choose Your Filling

Suggested fillings include: Shredded chicken, olive oil, onion, olives, creamy cheese spread, and leek (all sautéed) with salt and pepper to taste. Ground beef, chopped broccoli, salt, pepper, and parsley. Sautéed mushrooms with olive oil or butter, leek, and cooked quinoa. Toasted farofa made with sunflower seeds, pumpkin, nuts, and either tuna or shrimp with ricotta or herb cheese. Seasoned egg with salt, pepper, parsley, chopped ricotta, grated Minas cheese, and turmeric.

  3. Bake the Tomatoes

Fill the tomatoes with your chosen mixture, sprinkle with Minas cheese, and oregano on top. Bake for 10 minutes.
